Another “Rant” From a Diamond Certified Preferred Member

Here’s a good one! Hello Chris, I bought a used iPhone 13 from a third-party vendor [and] I’m happy with the purchase. They said I could receive $16 if I sent my old/wiped iPhone 7 to their recyclers. I prefer to recycle regardless, [even] if I don’t receive any money. Upon receiving my iPhone 13, they provided instructions on how to send in my old phone. After I sent it, they [said] all I had to do to get the $16 was provide them with my: <ul> <li>Bank account number</li> <li>Routing number</li> <li>Date of birth</li> <li>Full driver’s license number or the last four digits of my SSN </li> </ul> I told them they didn’t need all that information to send me $16 and [asked them] to return my old phone. They advised me that the phone was unreturnable as it had entered their system. I thought, “At least my phone has been recycled” and wrote the whole thing off. They keep sending me emails saying my money is waiting for the above information, and I keep replying that they don’t need all that information to reimburse me. I told them I’ve related my story on social media and [warned people] not to deal with this vendor. And it goes on… That’s my story. Thank you, Chris, for your service to consumers.
