The Big C Athletic Club in Concord helps Contra Costa County residents stay healthy and fit in a community atmosphere. The 75,000-square-foot facility houses a wide variety of exercise equipment and fitness areas, including a 25-meter lap swimming pool, tennis courts, co-ed and separate weight and cardio rooms, plus much more. It also offers personal training, group exercise classes and court sport lessons.
Founded in 1978 by Ken Hofmann, a well-known Bay Area philanthropist and former owner of the Oakland Athletics and the Seattle Seahawks, The Big C Athletic Club is the oldest fitness club in Contra Costa County. In 1995, Mr. Hofmann added the Community Youth Center (CYC), a nonprofit, state-of-the-art complex devoted to providing sports and academic programs for young people. Mr. Hofmann explains that both facilities have distinguished themselves through their meticulous attention to cleanliness, superior service and outstanding fitness amenities.
Individual, family, corporate and student memberships are available. All members have access to additional services that include a massage therapy center, hair and facial salon, restaurant, and chiropractic care.
