John A. Manuel Construction provides remodeling and structural improvement services for residential and small commercial clients throughout the East Bay. In addition to kitchens, bathrooms, home additions, cabinets, counters, decks, interior molding and trim, and windows and doors, the company handles large residential rehabilitations, commercial tenant improvements and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) upgrades.

John Manuel started in the foundations area of the construction business in 1970. After receiving his college degree, he returned to the construction field in 1984, preparing estimates for remodels. Mr. Manuel says this experience gave him the strong background that he utilizes every day with John A. Manuel Construction, which he’s owned and operated since 1990.

John A. Manuel Construction differentiates itself by the strong subcontractors it uses and Mr. Manuel’s detailed approach to quoting jobs. “I explain the entire process step by step,” he says. “Then, I prepare an outline of the scope of the work, as well as a priority list of items to be included.” Alternatives and upgrades are discussed to determine a final budget with the client.

“Unlike some contractors, I believe in returning phone calls. My personal attention to customers generates goodwill, which goes a long way. I can honestly tell my customers that this business isn’t devoid of problems, but if there is a problem, I resolve it as soon as possible. I’ve always believed in going beyond the call of duty to make sure everything is done right, and I do everything I can to avoid surprises for my customers.”
