"It was kind of a mixed bag. Some of her contactors were excellent. Some were not so great. She and I ran into a difference in style of working. I think she is used to telling clients what she is going to do and have them trust her. I needed a detailed plan. She trusted a lot of it to her assistant who was just terrible. She worked up a design that just had some lines drawn on paper, no thought went into it. Other designers use AutoCAD and are more professional. We were able to resolve things, and she pretty much followed through on time once we sorted it out. Her business model is to rely on contractors who are overpriced. She charges 15% off the top, so by the time she is finished, it is very expensive. She doesn't really oversee the work like a general contractor. She is not really in the loop. She is very good with plant selection, but not so much with hardscape."
