D. Cook Construction is a general building contractor that remodels kitchens and bathrooms, builds additions, and provides structural repairs for residential clients throughout the Monterey Peninsula, Salinas and Southern Santa Cruz. Owner Dustin Cook established the company more than 25 years ago to exclusively build custom houses, but he eventually expanded his services to include home remodeling. Mr. Cook says he takes pride in seamlessly integrating structural changes with the styles of existing buildings. “I studied architecture before getting my contractor’s license, so I can assist my clients with all types of design/build solutions.”
D. Cook Construction begins each project with a roundtable discussion that’s designed to set customer expectations and clearly outline every aspect of the building process. “Our main objective is to keep our clients aware of what’s going on through open lines of communication,” says Mr. Cook. To supplement this approach, the company sets aside portions of overall project payments until it completes its work to customers’ satisfaction.

A: "It depends on the size of the job. On smaller jobs, we’ll do almost everything. On larger jobs, we’ll just take on the foundation, framing and finish work."
