However, what is really rare in dealing with a contractor, is that he has a really good head for business. He knows how to bid, how to communicate if you are asking to change things, and he will let you know if it will cost more money. There are no surprises. He knows how to build a business relationship. He does business brilliantly, better than any contractor I have ever worked with. He's in a league of his own. I had new landscaping put in last year. Before Tom did the job, I walked him around and told him they couldn't wreck my landscaping. He completely respected that. Most contractors think plants are replaceable. I'm keeping Tom. I will have him do work for me as long as he's doing work. He has been really good and really fair in working with me. He knows what he doesn't know and he will refer me to someone if he can't do a job. He looks out for what is good for both him and me. If it's smarter for me to work directly with his subcontractors, he tells me so and gives me their contact information. I would be more than happy to recommend him to anyone."
