Q: Once a car’s been wrecked, will it ever be the same?
A: "Yes. Older cars built on frames are harder to get back in exact alignment, but late model cars are built with unibody construction. With unibody cars, we can replace or repair all the damaged pieces. When completed, it’s the same as if the pieces were produced at the factory."
Q: Will the new paint match the original?
A: "The paints we apply are called two-stage urethane. There are multiple variances on paint colors because they’re painted in different areas of the world. I start with a paint coat on the car and have different variances of the color to review and match. When painting a door, for example, I blend color into the panels adjacent to where the repair is and bring a little bit of the color into the next panel. When completed, it looks like the original paint."
Q: How long will my repair job take?
A: "That depends on the job. It’s based on the number of hours required. For example, if it’s a 10 to 30 hour job, it’ll be five to six working days, depending on how quick I can get parts. For most cars, I can get parts in a couple days. If a job looks like it’ll run more than 30 hours, it may take closer to two weeks."
Q: What if I have paint problems later?
A: "I’m confident about using PPG paints, and that’s why I can give a lifetime warranty. PPG also backs its paints. If there’s a problem—and we’ve had a few over the years—customers can come in and PPG will pay to have the vehicle repainted."
