Q: How long does a flooring job take?
A: "A lot of people think a floor job is going to take up to two weeks to complete. In fact, the average job—1,000 square feet, living room, dining room, two bedrooms, hallway—only takes four to five days. If there’s central heating and if we can keep the humidity under control, most projects will only take four to five days."
Q: Will I have to move out of my house?
A: "Typically, you’ll want to stay with a friend or relative. If you have a downstairs unit, you can stay there. If you have children, I definitely advise not to stay, since even the water-based fumes can be a little toxic when they’re first drying. I advise clients to vacate during the last two days of finishing."
Q: What about dust control?
A: "We have dust control vacuum systems on our machines. It’s not like it used to be."
Q: How extensive is preparation like painting?
A: "Not as much as painting a house. We just mask off any doorways to rooms that aren’t being worked in, like kitchens and baths. We just contain the work area."
