Q: How do you maintain quality control?
A: "Our owner, Bob Van Briggle, is a hands-on manager who emphasizes quality above all. Every morning, he goes through the specifications for the work the crew is going to do that day: the nailing and layout patterns, the type of underlayments to use, the moisture content of the flooring and so on. He knows how to meet and exceed customer expectations."
Q: Can you match my new floor to my home’s existing color scheme?
A: "Yes, we can match just about any existing color. Prefinished floors are easy to color match because they come in a limited number of colors. But we can also match custom stains; it just may take a few hours to get the combination of stains right."
Q: How long will my flooring job take to complete?
A: "Each job is dependent on the particulars of the house and the flooring material. We’ll give you an accurate schedule as part of the bid."
Q: Do you move furniture?
A: "Yes, although we have to charge extra. If you don’t have room elsewhere in the house, we can supply a van to temporarily store furniture while the flooring job is being done."
Q: What type of raw wood species do you offer?
A: "We have many raw wood species available, including American standards like oak, maple and hickory and exotic offerings like Brazilian cherry, Brazilian walnut, teak, bamboo and cork. All these raw products can be installed, sanded and finished in your home."
Q: Can you refinish my hardwood floor?
A: "Yes. First, we’ll set up an in-home inspection of your existing wood floor and check to see if there’s enough wear layer to sand down to the raw wood. We’ll look for areas that may need repairs due to water damage, normal wear and other factors. After that, we’ll give you an honest opinion as to what to expect from a refinishing. We’ll answer your questions and explain exactly what we can do—we won’t sell you a job that can’t be done. If you decide to move forward, we’ll measure the area and provide you with a written quote. Once you decide to have us refinish your floor, we’ll complete the job as quickly and professionally as possible."
