Q: Are you open to the public?
A: "Yes, all our locations—Stony Point Rock Quarry, Soils Plus and Grab N’ Grow—are open to the public."
Q: What products do you recommend for my project?
A: "We’ll recommend products based on your specific project needs. We get to know every aspect of your project and suggest materials that will fulfill your goals."
Q: How much material do I need for my project?
A: "We use a detailed mathematical process to calculate the volume you’ll need based on your site measurements. The process also helps account for shrinkage and other variables, which limits over- and under-buying so you can get the right amount the first time."
Q: I’m putting together a driveway project. What materials should I use?
A: "It depends on many different factors, so we have to do a lot of probing to answer that question properly. What color rock do you have now? Does the surface need to be built up or just top dressed? Is the surface loose or compacted? Is the roadway subject to flooding? In the summer, we recommend three products depending on your aesthetic preference: 3/4-inch Blue Sub-Base, which has a blue color and a clay binder to help with compaction; Virgin Class 2 Aggregate Base, which also has binders for compaction and varies in color from brown to grey; and Class 2 Recycle Aggregate Base, which is comprised of crushed concrete, asphalt, porcelain and brick. During the winter, if mud is a problem on your driveway, 3/4-inch or 1 1/2-inch Drain Rock will create a firm surface."
Q: What ingredients are in your aggregate products?
A: "We can provide printouts that show you exactly what’s in each of our products."
Q: Do you recycle stone and aggregate?
A: "Yes. We can recycle most aggregate materials—the list of things we accept is much longer than the list of things we don’t accept."
Q: What do you do with the materials once they’re recycled?
A: "We make finished products out of nearly 100 percent of the materials we recycle—very little goes to the landfill, and anything that does is debris our customers haven’t properly dealt with themselves."
Q: Do you deliver? How much do you charge for delivery?
A: "Yes, we deliver. Our delivery rates are based on fuel prices and the size of the delivery vehicle, and they’re updated on the first of every month."
