Q: What kind of chiropractic care can I expect to receive from your practice?
A: "We take a three phase approach to chiropractic care. Phase 1 is relief care. If you’re in pain when you come into our office, our first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, you’ll typically need relief care two to three times per week. Phase 2 is corrective/restorative care. During this phase, your muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent injury. Your doctor will create a customized plan based on your overall health and the severity of your problem. Phase 3 is wellness care. Once your body has fully healed, it’s important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid future problems. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor every month or two, depending on your lifestyle and goals."
Q: What will happen during my first visit?
A: "Your first visit is designed for the doctor to learn about you, your condition and your expectations. Upon entering our office, our receptionist will greet you and welcome you as a member of our family. After you fill out patient forms that provide us with information about your condition, you’ll have a consultation with one of our doctors to discuss your health-related problems and concerns, as well as potential treatment options. After your consultation, Dr. Ambridge and Dr. Caulfield will conduct a complete chiropractic examination and perform other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural and physical examinations. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent."
Q: Do you have to take x-rays to determine my condition?
A: "Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to complete a full evaluation. X-rays help us rule out more serious conditions and allow us to develop the most effective treatment plan for you. Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays and can often immediately identify their misalignments and degeneration."
Q: Will my insurance cover chiropractic care?
A: "We’ll have to take your information and determine your level of coverage, but we do accept a number of insurance policies."
Q: What’s the difference between wellness care and standard medical care?
A: "Wellness care seeks to turn on the body’s natural healing ability, not by adding something to the system but by removing anything that might interfere with normal function. Standard medical care seeks to treat symptoms by adding something from the outside—medications, surgeries or procedures."
Q: What type of corrective exercises do you teach?
A: "We teach our patients exercises that are customized to help strengthen and correct their own unique problems. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 40 percent. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and health."
Q: Can you give me lifestyle advice as well as chiropractic care?
A: "Yes. We often find it helpful to coach our patients on certain activities they should do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health problem. Our goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most."
