Q: Why do you sometimes charge more than a dealership?
A: "That’s a complicated question to answer. An average timing belt replacement, for example, might cost $1,200 at our shop, but a dealership might quote $600 for the same service. A call to the dealership reveals that $600 only covers replacing the belt, but there’s more to it than that—the timing belt is driven by the crankshaft, and there’s also a water pump and bearings that guide it. When we change a timing belt, usually at 100,000 miles, those parts are more than halfway gone. Our practice is to replace them all. Even though you spend more, that part of the engine will last another 100,000 miles without worries. We don’t want to lose customers, so we carefully explain the benefits of every repair."
Q: Can you work with my insurance company?
A: "Yes. We can deal with insurance companies directly, without any customer involvement."
Q: Can you give me a ride to my home or back?
A: "Yes, in most cases."
Q: What amenities do you offer?
A: "We have a waiting area with magazines. Sometimes there are donuts. We also have Wi-Fi so you can bring your computer and get online."
