Q: What can you tell me about your services?
A: "We do whatever it takes to meet the needs of our residents, including dressing them in the morning, changing their undergarments, feeding them as necessary, dispensing their medications, cleaning their rooms and changing linens, providing fresh towels, cleaning bathrooms and more."
Q: Do you work with patients who have dementia?
A: "Yes. We have a dementia waiver and a hospice waiver, so we can provide end-of-life care. One of the toughest things in this business is that once somebody reaches a certain level, they must be moved to another type of facility. We can keep residents through to the end of their lives if necessary."
Q: What can you tell me about your employees?
A: "Many families that hire us to care for their loved ones don’t understand the benefits of having long-term, experienced employees. If you’re looking around at other facilities, you should ask about their employees. We’re upfront about the longevity of our employees, and we’re very proud of them."
Q: Do you offer recreation amenities?
A: "Yes. We have an entertainment director and an assistant entertainment director who are involved with various activities throughout the year. We have Bingo at least two or three days a week, but not all day—just enough to make everybody happy. We also offer outdoor entertainment—we’ll gather on the front deck and enjoy some music, from one person with a piano to a 15-person band."
Q: Do you have an overnight staff?
A: "Yes, we’re staffed 24 hours a day. Some facilities allow their workers to sleep during the night, but we don’t. We typically have three employees during the daytime hours, three employees during the evening hours, and one employee from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. We can have as many as seven or eight people around during the daytime and evening hours."
Q: Can I visit and eat with my loved one?
A: "Absolutely. We invite people to frequently visit, and we almost always have leftovers, so you’re more than welcome to enjoy dinner with your loved ones."
