Q: How important is it to work with an experienced real estate professional?
A: "The importance of working with an experienced agent can’t be overstated. It’s one thing to put a house on the market, place a sign out front and receive offers; it’s another to actually close a transaction. In today’s market, it takes a skilled professional to handle inspections, offers, counter-offers and negotiations. And because of stricter lender requirements, it’s a completely different transaction than it was just one year ago."
Q: Is now a good time to sell my house and buy a new one?
A: "It depends on a number of factors, including the local market, interest rates and tax benefits to you as an individual."
Q: Should I make important real estate decisions based on what I read in the newspaper or see on TV?
A: "Not necessarily. I’m happy to share statistics with my clients and brief them on how the market is doing in their counties, cities and neighborhoods. Because there are so many factors to consider in each micro-market (schools, for example), it’s important to look at the real numbers for a particular area instead of what’s being reported in the media. Recent market history has shown there are times when the low-end market in a certain area is moving fast, and there are other times when it’s slow, even as the high-end market is on the rise."
Q: What do I need to do to sell my home?
A: "If you’d like me to come out and see your house, I can make suggestions regarding the best way to prepare it for the market while staying within your budget."
