Q: What time should I expect the C&J crew to arrive?
A: "You can expect the crew at your house between 9 and 10 a.m."
Q: What do I need to do to prepare?
A: "The crew needs two feet of workspace on either side of the fence. Please remove any potted plants and yard decorations from that area, as well as anything attached to the fence that you don’t want us to haul away."
Q: Do I need to be there when the crew arrives?
A: "Although that’s ideal, we understand work and other commitments may not permit it. Please be sure to give the office a phone number where you can be reached throughout the day in case there are any questions."
Q: Do you require a deposit?
A: "No, payment is due upon completion."
Q: How long does a fence job typically take?
A: "Most jobs take a day. Some go for two or three days, depending on how many homes are involved."
Q: If I share a fence with my neighbor, can you do separate invoicing for them?
A: "Yes, we would be more than happy to do a split invoice for your neighbor."
Q: What can I do to maintain my new fence?
A: "If possible, try to protect your fence from constant water exposure (sprinklers, automatic watering systems) and excess vegetation."
Q: Do you offer a sealant for my finished fence?
A: "Yes, C&J Fencing uses an oil-based sealant called Preserva Wood. We can spray it on your fence after it’s installed for an additional charge. Please contact the office is you’re interested in having your fence preserved with this sealant."
Q: Does your pressure-treated lumber contain arsenic?
A: "C&J Fencing uses only NatureWood brown stained (ACQ), which contains no chromated copper arsenic."
Q: Are your posts sturdy? Will they quickly start to lean?
A: "We use concrete, not post-mix. It tends to be a stronger product. We crown our concrete; we don’t leave it underground, so it helps with longevity."
Q: I’ve noticed black runs down fence posts beneath the nails. What causes that?
A: "That’s from using screws. They don’t hold up well and create those black “tear drops.” We use galvanized nails and brads instead."
