Q: How long will my job take?
A: "That depends on the project. At the beginning, we’ll provide you with a detailed schedule that lays out exactly what will be done and when."
Q: What exactly does your work entail?
A: "We’ll give you a detailed, non-technical, written scope of work that explains what we’ll do and what’s included in your project. Blueprints don’t necessarily tell clients everything they need to know, and we don’t want to make assumptions. We write everything down so there are no surprises."
Q: Who’s going to work on my project?
A: "We designate a lead carpenter who’ll be there every day and can explain what we’re doing and answer questions. Ms. Weil is continually checking in with each project and can be easily reached by phone or email."
Q: Can we live at home during the remodel?
A: "That depends on the size and scope of the project, but it’s usually possible to live at home, and most of our clients do. In an effort to minimize disruption to your lifestyle, we’ll set the start and stop times and weekend options that work for you. We also build plastic barriers that keep dust contained and separate the work area from your living space to give you as much privacy as possible."
Q: How did Ms. Weil get into this line of work? Did she start as a designer?
A: "I started as an apprentice carpenter. I became a journeywoman, then a forewoman and production manager before starting my own company. I work well with my teams, and I know exactly what it’s like at a jobsite, which is especially valuable to clients who live at home while work is underway. I know about the noise, dust and loss of privacy, and how to keep annoying aspects of remodeling work to a minimum."
