Q: Are your pest control treatments safe?
A: "We only use ‘caution labeled’ products—they have the least toxicity effects on mammals, but they have to be toxic to some degree, otherwise they wouldn’t eradicate the pests. Some of our products are botanicals, so they aren’t traditional pesticides. We don’t use products that we’re not comfortable using, because we’re exposed to their effects every day."
Q: Do you always use pesticides?
A: "No. We specialize in integrated pest management (IPM). If we can solve a problem without using a chemical treatment, we’ll do it. Sometimes it’s as simple as washing trash cans, getting rid of things that attract insects, or using clove oil or thyme to repel them."
Q: Do I have to leave my house while it’s being treated?
A: "Usually not. Most of our products are odorless and don’t bother people who have allergies or are odor-sensitive. Unlike a lot of homeowner-applied products, we know exactly what concentrations to use and where to apply them. In some cases, especially when fleas or spiders are found throughout a house, we may ask the family to take their pets and leave for a few hours."
Q: Do your products remain in the environment for a long time?
A: "Our treatment products spend between three and six weeks in the environment before breaking down. But once the liquid is dry, the amounts that people and pets come into contact with are so low that they don’t have a negative effect."
Q: How long does a pest control job take to complete?
A: "It depends on the type of infestation. Most initial services take between 30 and 45 minutes. A bedbug treatment can take as long as 90 minutes."
