According to audiologist Mark Sanford, owner of CSG Better Hearing Center, LLC, a Diamond Certified company, 75 percent of people who have hearing loss don’t do anything about it. Here are some early signs that you might be losing your hearing: 1) you’re constantly raising the TV volume; 2) you have trouble hearing on the phone; 3) you have difficulty understanding women and children; 4) people complain you’re speaking too loudly; 5) you can’t follow conversations in a car.
Statistics show that one out of four people over 60 years of age have some difficulty hearing. This number increases substantially each decade: 50 percent of people over age 70, 75 percent over age 80 and 100 percent by age 90. The sooner you get tested and address the problem, the easier it will be to adjust to hearing aids and improve your hearing.
