Few stone, brick and masonry material providers earn the prestigious Diamond Certified award, which means they’ve been independently rated Highest in Quality. Even fewer also bring five decades of industry experience to every customer interaction, but that’s exactly the case for Soiland Co., Inc. “We’ve been family-owned and operated since 1962, so we’ve been able to develop a significant legacy for providing high-quality rock and soil products at the lowest prices,” says co-owner Mark Soiland. “We also understand that excellent customer service can have a lasting effect on customer relations, so we always make sure our customers know how much we value them.”

Soiland divides its services between three different branches: Stony Point Rock Quarry produces rock and aggregate products for construction and landscaping projects; Soils Plus produces soil products for the same purposes; and Grab N’ Grow recycles organic materials to produce a variety of landscaping products, including special soil mixtures for commercial landscape yards, nurseries and residential use. The company is deeply committed to environmental recycling—its Cotati and Sonoma facilities are located adjacent to landfill collection facilities and divert more than 100,000 cubic yards of waste every year.

Unlike stone, brick and masonry material providers that are inconveniently located near quarries in coastal areas, all of Soiland’s locations are close to Sonoma County commerce hubs, which makes it easier for customers to bring in recyclable materials and significantly increases the efficiency of the company’s delivery services. “Being conveniently located also means we make most of our products with local ingredients, which ultimately supports local families,” adds Mr. Soiland.

Soiland’s in-house recycling capabilities further differentiate it from its competition, both in terms of customer convenience and environmental responsibility. “We recycle more local masonry materials than any other company, and we’re the most consistent in terms of the types and sizes of materials we accept,” says Mr. Soiland. “Recycling everything ourselves also allows us to reduce our carbon footprint—instead of sending materials to an offsite recycler, we can eliminate that step and pass those savings on to our customers.”
