Quail Garden is a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) that offers a combination of personal services, housing, housekeeping and health care for Alameda County senior citizens. According to owner Bob Londagin, the Livermore facility exudes a unique charm and immediately captivates its visitors. “Simply put, it reminds them of a very nice home,” he says.
Mr. Londagin says Quail Garden is woven into the fabric of its surrounding neighborhood in Livermore’s “Old Southside” district. “It’s common to see our residents out and about, enjoying spring flowers or visiting with neighbors, just like how they lived in their own homes.” In fact, a door on the side of the building is left unlocked all day so families can come and go freely without having to ring a doorbell.
Ultimately, says Mr. Londagin, Quail Garden’s facility is measured by its staff members. Hand-picked for their experience and qualifications, he calls them a “compassionate group of people who are absolutely dedicated to our residents.”
As a family-run operation, Quail Garden “doesn’t have to deal with a parent corporation,” says Mr. Londagin. “Our only priority is the care and well-being of our residents. Feedback from them and their families has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Quail Garden’s dining room offers what Mr. Londagin calls “family style, basic, down-home cooking.” The company also employs an entertainment director who brings in a wide range of activities, from 15-piece bands to a travelling zoo. Several days a week, residents enjoy spirited games of Bingo.
As a retired firefighter, Mr. Londagin is adamant that his facility is completely prepared for any type of emergency, medical or otherwise. He compiles a two-page handout on every resident—detailing their medical history, medications and any other pertinent information—that he can quickly provide to fire department or ambulance personnel.
