Precision Tune Auto Care Comparative Summary

The Redwood City branch of Precision Tune Auto Care has been servicing San Mateo County vehicles since 1995. The company offers general auto repair and maintenance services, including oil changes and “check engine light” diagnostics. It works on power windows, brakes, radiators, water pumps, heaters, timing belts, shocks and struts, and more.

Franchise owner Steve Palthe has 30 years of experience in the auto repair business, and over that time, he says he’s learned the value of being open and straightforward with his customers. “We try to treat every customer like a close friend. We welcome them in a friendly and respectful manner, and we give them honest evaluations of their cars. They really appreciate that type of approach.”

Precision Tune Auto Care’s technicians are ASE-certified and factory-certified to work on Honda-Acura and Nissan cars. Most have been with the company for seven to 10 years, and Mr. Palthe says they’re well-versed in original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts and use them as much as possible.

Despite being a national brand, Precision Tune Auto Care isn’t run as a large chain. Each shop is an independently-owned and operated franchise. “We’re family-operated,” says Mr. Palthe. “We have a big-name brand, but we run our company like a small business. About 80 percent of our clientele base is comprised of repeat customers, and that’s a direct result of our personal approach.”
