Brothers Mark and Brian Edwards and their partner, David Bryant, are the inventors of the Sun Tunnel, a way to route natural daylight into inaccessible locations in a home (such as closets and baths), and the Fan-Attic, a solar-powered attic ventilation system. After Velux USA bought the Sun Tunnel from the partners in 2002, they founded Nulight Solutions, Inc. to sell and install Sun Tunnels, Fan-Attics and Velux skylights in the Bay Area.
Velux is one of the premier skylight manufacturers in the world. Highly praised by architects for their low-profile design that doesn’t disrupt rooflines, Velux skylights come with a variety of blinds that can be used to control the amount of sunlight that enters a room. Triple paned and Energy Star rated, the skylights can be installed with electric blinds and venting that can be remote controlled for installations that are out of reach.
Sun Tunnels are an energy-efficient way to illuminate closets, laundry rooms, hallways, and second bathrooms. From the inside, a Sun Tunnel looks like a recessed lighting fixture, but its flexible tubing bends sunlight around attic obstructions and brings natural light to hard-to-reach areas. With its optional light kit, Sun Tunnels also work when the sun goes down.
NuLight Solutions also manufactures and markets the Fan-Attic, a solar-powered ventilation system that quietly increases airflow through attic spaces, helping to cool houses and extend the life of their roofs. The Fan-Attic is solar powered, so it doesn’t add to electricity bills and is a Green way to ventilate and cool a house. “The Fan-Attic is our baby, and we’re very proud of it,” says Mark Edwards. “It really makes a difference in a home and saves money on air conditioning costs.”
