For some auto repair shops, offering a generous warranty could be risky. If their work is less than exceptional, honoring the warranty could end up costing them money and clients. But Larry’s AutoWorks in Mountain View has no qualms about its three-year/30,000 mile warranty on all repairs, parts and labor, says co-owner Larry Moore.

Mr. Moore employs nationally certified Master technicians, and his shop has been named one of the “Top 10 Auto Repair Shops in the Nation” by Motor Age magazine for three years running. “You can expect a world-class repair job every time,” says Mr. Moore. “We use only original, factory quality parts that are built to last.”

Larry’s AutoWorks offers a host of customer amenities, including rental and loaner cars, rides in both directions, and after-hours pick-up. It’s also a majority woman-owned business that’s been designated “Female-Friendly” by AskPatty.com, a website that identifies the best automotive-related businesses for female customers.

Larry’s AutoWorks offers EcoOil, a re-refined oil that’s more environmentally friendly than newly drilled crude. It was the first Green automotive shop in Mountain View, and one of the first anywhere to embrace environmentalism, says Mr. Moore, who also sits on the EPA’s oversight board for hazardous material source reduction. “We were instrumental in designing best-management practices for Green auto repair that are now used across the country.”

To keep its level of customer satisfaction high, Larry’s AutoWorks actively solicits feedback. Within four days of a repair, the company calls customers to confirm they’re satisfied and the repair is holding up. Customers can also submit feedback on its website. Mr. Moore says positive ratings run almost 98 percent.
