Kerri Landscape Services has been creating custom outdoor spaces for residential clients in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties since 1994. The company builds custom outdoor spaces that include features such as decks, ponds, and outdoor kitchens and barbeques. “We’re a one-stop shop for installations,” says owner Rich Kerri. “We can do decking, masonry, woodwork, water features—anything outside with the exception of swimming pools.”
When a client first contacts Kerri Landscape Services, the company’s first step is to understand the extent of the proposed project. “We need to know what they’re looking for,” says Mr. Kerri. “We work in partnership with our customers to create personalized designs. Different people have different expectations, and we try to cater to them all.”
With two professional designers on staff, Kerri Landscape Services is equipped to help clients create plans that are both practical and affordable. “We work with customers’ budgets so they’ll be comfortable with the scope of their projects, and we try to give them the most value for their money,” says Mr. Kerri.
When the initial plan is finished, Kerri Landscape Services bids the entire project in the form of a menu. “Demolition, drainage, planting, irrigation—each step costs a certain amount of money,” explains Mr. Kerri. “We itemize the project so the homeowner can have it done in phases. With the numbers right in front of them, we can discuss how we’re going to bring the plan to fruition.”
Landscape lighting is one of Kerri Landscape Services’ specialties. “We consider it more than just selling fixtures,” says Mr. Kerri. “We try to create a landscape portrait of the yard and house at night.” All of the company’s foremen have been trained to install lighting systems properly and safely. If a client is hesitant about committing to a lighting system, Kerri Landscape Services has demo kits with temporary lights that can be set up around the yard.
Mr. Kerri says keeping an open line of communication with his clients is very important to Kerri Landscape Services’ success. “Some people leave early in the morning and come home late,” he explains. “We keep those customers informed by sending them daily email updates. That way, they know how things are going and are made aware of any issues. We want to always keep them in the loop.”
