In his 20 years in the remodeling industry, Kevin Capps, owner of K.C. Customs & Remodeling, Inc., has determined that successful home construction and remodeling is all about planning. He says having a plan and schedule in place before work begins is crucial to delivering a project on time and within budget. “We’re very conscientious about budgets and schedules. Before we start a project, we give the client a ‘homework book’ that allows them to pick their finishes. Once we have that, we go over all the decisions and make sure we can deliver the job within budget. If a client exceeds their budget, we’ll sit down and discuss it before work starts.”
K.C. Customs & Remodeling has its own in-house design team. If clients don’t have design plans, the firm can provide construction drawings and full color, 3-D renderings that give detailed views of their cabinet, color, tile and granite selections. “That's a huge advantage we have over other contractors,” says Mr. Capps. “Clients are able to see the selections they've made, which makes jobs go quicker. Our job foreman can provide a full proposal package, as well.”
K.C. Customs & Remodeling is also a certified Build It Green contractor. Being a Green builder means using sustainable construction practices—such as designing energy-efficient homes and reducing or eliminating sources of indoor air pollution—and materials, such as low volatile organic compound (VOC) flooring.
“We don’t just join Green building organizations,” says Mr. Capps. “We follow through and implement Green practices in the field.”
K.C. Customs & Remodeling believes in offering personalized service to complement its expert industry knowledge. “We always make sure our clients know we’re completely focused on them,” says Mr. Capps. “We make them feel like they’re our only clients.”
