According to Kenneth Turnage II, owner of general contracting firm K2GC, the most common complaints about general contractors is they show up late and leave a mess. K2GC aims to overcome that reputation “one customer at a time,” he says.
The Antioch-based company’s contractors are prompt for all appointments—one piece of a larger corporate commitment to superior customer service, says Mr. Turnage. When customers call K2GC’s offices, someone nearly always answers the phones, and in the unlikely event they can’t, they return messages within two hours.
Mr. Turnage says K2GC puts in extra effort on behalf of its customers. Should someone incur losses in a fire, another company might simply help compile an itemized list, send an estimate and call the job done. But with their extensive insurance background, K2GC’s employees are able to patiently walk clients through the insurance process. “Whatever decisions you ultimately make,” says Mr. Turnage, “they’ll be well-informed and in your best interest.”
Ultimately, Mr. Turnage’s objective is to make customers feel like part of K2GC’s “family.” He works hard to earn customers’ trust, which he believes is the foundation of every long-standing customer relationship.
When work on a home is underway, K2GC takes abundant precautions to protect belongings from dust, debris and damage. Floors are masked and barriers are erected to block off sections of the house, and when the company leaves after a day’s work, it leaves the home absolutely clean and orderly.
All K2GC’s employees submit to background checks before being hired. Once cleared, they’re carefully trained to the company’s high standards of workmanship and service. As a result, Mr. Turnage says employee turnover is extremely low.
The company also offers complete design consultation for room additions, kitchens, bathrooms, and the like. ”We really emphasize personalized service,” says Mr. Turnage. If customers choose custom cabinetry, K2GC will bring a custom cabinetmaker to their home for a meeting. Every service is “customized to fit your desires and needs.”
