In his 40 years of practicing dentistry in Santa Clara County, Dr. John R. Licking has built a reputation that, above all, is based on care for his patients. “We treat our patients like family,” he confirms. “That’s the major difference we provide.”
Dr. Licking’s Sunnyvale practice remains at the cutting edge of dental technology. He’s one of the early adopters of the Ozone treatment, which reverses tooth decay using ozone gas—sometimes even making it possible to treat cavities without drilling and the need for anesthesia. “Sometimes, we have to drill a little hole to apply the ozone to the decay,” explains Dr. Licking, “but often it’s as painless as blowing air on a tooth. The best part is it gives us the ability to actually reverse decay and turn it back into sound tooth structure.”
In addition to ozone treatments, Dr. Licking uses digital x-rays to reduce radiation, laser technology to identify areas of decay, and Cerec restoration techniques that allow permanent crowns to be applied in only one visit. “With all our treatments, we try and keep as much of the natural teeth as possible, says Dr. Licking. “That’s why we use ozone and other new technologies. We practice general and family dentistry, but we like to think of ourselves as specialists in tooth conservation.”
