Goodman Building Supply Comparative Summary

(415) 690-7974
775 Redwood Highway
Mill Valley, CA 94941

For more than 55 years, Goodman Building Supply has been a convenient source of home improvement products for Marin County residents whose only other options would be driving to San Rafael.

But this convenience, says owner Zviki Govrin, is a fringe benefit that merely enhances the store’s biggest attraction: outstanding customer service. Goodman's Building Supply typically has 60 employees working a shift, compared to as many at big-box stores nearly four times its size. With such a high employee-to-customer ratio, Mr. Govrin explains that shoppers get much more attention much more quickly.

Those employees tend to provide exceptional service. Mr. Govrin estimates that over one-third of his staff have over 10 years’ seniority at Goodman Building Supply. Even with new hires, Mr. Govrin requires proven experience and expertise. Many are contractors and former employees of other home improvement stores whose doors have closed.

As a result, you won’t have trouble finding a knowledgeable staff person to answer a how-to question, locate a hard-to-find item or assist you in their drive-in lumberyard.

Goodman Building Supply carries all top-brand building materials, hardware, lumber, plumbing and electrical supplies, lamps, fixtures, a large selection of low-watt heaters, power tools, a complete line of water-saving plumbing and irrigation products, and just about everything else for contractors, landscaping professionals and do-it-yourselfers.

The store has 43,000 items in stock. Because it’s a member of the nationwide ACE network, another quarter million items can quickly be specially ordered quickly and easily.

The only Certified Green home improvement center in Marin, Goodman Building Supply offers more than 2,500 Green products. More are added at a rate of 25 each month.

Goodman Building Supply is a strong supporter of the local community. It pioneered Kids’ Club, an in-store program where children undertake simple projects using hardware, wood and gardening tools that they take home afterwards. The program is a huge success, drawing more than 50 children per month with more signing up all the time.
