GENTEC Electrical Services Comparative Summary

Joe Scerbo, owner of GENTEC Electrical Services in Livermore, is sometimes surprised by questions about the quality control measures his company uses. “I guess there are companies out there that don’t adhere to strict quality guidelines,” he says, “but for us, it’s just a matter of fact. We do the best job possible.”

That job starts with hiring only state-certified general electricians, who have greater and more rounded experience than ones with just residential certification. The general certification allows GENTEC to handle a vast range of electrical services for both homes and businesses. Also, Mr. Scerbo holds a general contractor’s license, which lets him take on tasks that go beyond straightforward electrical work, such as designing and installing home theater systems.

GENTEC’s services include installation of electrical wiring, closed-circuit TV systems, data centers and uninterruptable power systems (UPS), heating and air conditioning controls, home automation, and home theaters. “We do just about everything that has a wire running to it,” says Mr. Scerbo.

All GENTEC’s electricians have undergone background checks. They’re also trained in customer service, and the company has an after-hours telephone service to respond to any customer questions or issues.

When assigned to a job, GENTEC electricians arrive within an arranged two-hour time period and call before arriving. On the job, they put down drop cloths and wear protective booties to protect floors and furnishings. When the project is complete, GENTEC holds to the firm price estimate given at the start, regardless of whether it takes longer or costs more. Mr. Scerbo guarantees that if customers aren’t happy with his company’s service, they'll return and do the job again.
