East County Glass & Window, Inc. Comparative Summary

Before people invest in new windows for their homes, says Tim Allen, owner and president of East County Glass & Window, Inc. in Pittsburg, they should feel confident that the installation company will still be in business if they ever require further service.

East County Glass & Window is one of the largest and oldest glass and window replacement businesses in Northern California. The company owns a 10,000-square-foot showroom and warehouse that includes a room colloquially referred to as “the dungeon,” which contains 15 years’ worth of customer records. If a client of five years ago calls East County Glass & Window today, the company can assist them quickly and properly without sending them to the manufacturer, says Mr. Allen.

East County Glass & Window has been in business since 1979. Mr. Allen says employee turnover is extraordinarily low—the newest member of the office staff started in 2007. “When you call us, you won’t get a different person every time who doesn’t know the details of the company.”

Mr. Allen says his business prides itself on being “fair and reputable,” more interested in long-term service to customers than short-term financial gain. His philosophy is to “take care of every customer like they're our last one.”

Because of its size, East County Glass & Window is able to employ specialists, including experts in installing thick shower doors, commercial storefronts and screens. The company offers numerous styles of tints, graffiti film and protective and security film. One of its more exotic products, called switch glass, turns white when activated to offer complete privacy inside a room. East County Glass & Window has installed switch glass on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security.
