Concept Builders Comparative Summary

According to Don Runnals, owner of Lafayette-based construction company Concept Builders, the most valuable asset he offers his clients is a creative building talent that’s been honed over a 30-plus year career in the industry.

Mr. Runnals calls himself a hands-on operator who’s as involved with each project’s design aspects—what he calls his “niche”—as with the mechanics of the actual construction. Having spent the bulk of his career in Hawaii, he’s also highly attuned to integration between the interior and exterior elements of a structure.

Once a contract is signed, contractors often balk at making any changes, says Mr. Runnals—they prefer to just “plow ahead” with the plans. As veterans of the homebuilding and remodeling industries, Mr. Runnals says he and his team have developed finely-honed talents for improving projects that are already underway. He estimates that three-quarters of his recommendations are welcomed by his clients, who understand the design value they represent.
