Few auto repair companies earn the prestigious Diamond Certified award, which means they’ve been independently rated Highest in Quality. Fewer still can claim an owner who has almost four decades of experience in the auto repair industry, but that’s exactly the case for Central Automotive Service Center in Walnut Creek. “I started in the business when I was 16 years old and took over this establishment in 1984,” explains owner Rob Service. “Back then, this was a small shop specializing in auto electrical and fuel systems, but we’ve since grown to become a full-service shop for all models of domestic and Asian cars, SUVs and light trucks.”
Despite its exponential growth, Central Automotive Service Center has remained independently owned and focused on quality since first opening in 1976. All its technicians are ASE-certified (three are certified Master Technicians), and the company itself is AAA-approved and a certified California smog inspection station, which further expands its services and differentiates it from other auto repair companies that only focus on certain aspects of the trade. “We consistently invest in the newest equipment and technologies to stay ahead of our competitors,” says Mr. Service. “We ensure we have the equipment and diagnostic systems necessary to offer the highest levels of car repair.”
In an effort to distance itself from the notion that auto repair shops are hazardous to the environment, Central Automotive Service Center employs several Green business practices and is a certified Bay Area Green Business. “We handle our entire operation in an environmentally-friendly way,” says Mr. Service. “We recycle all the fluids, spent filters, debris and waste—including metal assemblies—that come off the cars we service.” In recognition of its environmental efforts, the shop was awarded the 1998 Pollution Prevention Award from the Central Sanitary District.
