Getting in and out of the shower has become a daily routine for most of us—it’s not often we stop to admire the sleek design of the glass enclosure we stand in each day. But an expertly-crafted shower can lend just as much beauty to a home as any other fixture, and San Carlos’ CB Showers, Inc. strives to make its customers aware of that fact.
Since 1986, CB Showers has provided custom frameless shower enclosures to building professionals and homeowners throughout the San Francisco Peninsula. “We were the first to offer frameless enclosures, and we basically set the standard that everybody else is following,” says Terri Downs, co-owner. “We don’t compromise on quality, safety or service, and we’re always looking for new innovations and new ways of doing things.”
One of those innovations has become a key component of CB Showers’ success: Diamon-Fusion. “Diamon-Fusion is a two-stage process that chemically seals glass at its pores, which makes it easier to clean and maintain,” explains Ms. Downs. “When the shower is on, water runs off the glass and doesn’t get inside the pores, which eliminates the need for future heavy cleaning and maintenance.” CB Showers offers the Diamon-Fusion treatment for all enclosures it installs.
The company prides itself on creating custom pieces, but it also encourages homeowners to create their own designs, offering frameless enclosure design tips on its website that they can discuss with their contractor—topics include backing requirements, neo-angle configurations and door size restrictions. “We do our best to give customers exactly what they envision,” says Ms. Downs, “but if what they want isn’t safe or won’t work, we’ll recommend an alternative.”
CB Showers also handles a variety of other interior glasswork, including mirrors, countertops and bar area glass. For those on a budget or looking to accommodate a small space, the company installs framed and sliding shower enclosures as well. Every design can be found in its San Carlos showroom, where customers can browse enclosures and see what they look like in person.
