Maintaining customer satisfaction is a crucial aspect of any business, but it’s even more important for kitchen and bathroom contractors that have earned the prestigious Diamond Certified award. For Altera Design & Remodeling, Inc., achieving a high level of customer satisfaction is a direct result of its dedication to creating unique remodeling projects that suit each client’s vision, lifestyle and budget—an approach that’s earned the company a reputation for consistently providing top-quality service. “Our reputation means everything to us,” says owner Jim Vivrette. “The majority of our work comes from repeat customers and referrals, so everyone in our company is focused on making the construction process smooth and comfortable for our clients.”
Altera Design & Remodeling has been designing, building and remodeling kitchens and bathrooms throughout the East Bay since 1986. In addition to its construction services, the company maintains a 2,000-square-foot showroom in Walnut Creek (Altera Design Kitchen & Bath) where customers can choose from a variety of cabinets, appliances, faucets, countertops, and lighting and flooring products for their remodeling projects.
Unlike kitchen and bathroom contractors that only focus on the construction side of residential remodeling, Altera Design & Remodeling handles every aspect of the remodeling process for its clients, from concept and design to final installation. “A lot of companies will say they’re full-service design/build firms, but they’re often just showrooms that work with subcontractors to complete jobs,” explains Mr. Vivrette. “When we design and build a project, we use in-house designers and contractors every step of the way. That way, we’re able to provide the best possible experiences for our clients. They only have to deal with one firm, so they know exactly who’s responsible for getting the work done.”
Another distinguishing characteristic of Altera Design & Remodeling is the emphasis it places on client communication. Before each project begins, the company holds a series of meetings with the client to ensure all details are fully understood, including a walk-through meeting to finalize the scope and practical design of the work. After the job is complete, Mr. Vivrette personally revisits the site to confirm the customer is absolutely satisfied. “If there’s a problem, I’ll write a punch list on the spot and come back to fix it,” he says. “We don’t want our customers to feel like we’re never coming back once the job is over.”
