Few heating and air conditioning companies earn the prestigious Diamond Certified award, which means they’ve been independently rated Highest in Quality. Even fewer can also claim more than 50 years of family-owned operation, but that’s exactly the case for Allen Heating and Sheet Metal. Vice President Jim Allen says the key to the company’s decades of success is always remembering its community roots and treating every customer like family. “We live and work in our community, so we feel it’s important to give back as much as possible and take good care of our customers. That’s been our core philosophy since 1957.”
Allen Heating and Sheet Metal sells, installs and services all types of indoor temperature management systems for residential and commercial clients throughout Marin County. As a certified dealer for industry leader Carrier, the company is well-versed in energy-efficient systems and specially trained to work on everything from heat pumps to thermostats to ventilators. “We also custom design sheet metal ductwork,” adds Mr. Allen. “If it has anything to do with moving air, we deal with it.”
Unlike less experienced HVAC companies that provide the minimum amount of training for their employees, Allen Heating and Sheet Metal requires all its technicians to be factory-trained and undergo continuous education to stay current on the latest industry standards and equipment. “Everybody who works for us has gone through an apprenticeship program to become a certified installer,” explains owner Etta Allen. “The HVAC industry is constantly evolving, so we take advantage of any continuing education programs offered by manufacturers and make sure our technicians are as knowledgeable as possible.”
Another distinguishing attribute of Allen Heating and Sheet Metal is its unwavering commitment to customer service—an inclusive approach that’s allowed the company to develop a loyal clientele base over the years. “We always make a special effort to please our clients,” affirms Ms. Allen. “Communication, meeting customers’ needs, dealing fairly and honestly with them—these are the main tenants of our philosophy and reflect the great pride we take in our work.”
