Some other tips for choosing a roofer:
Solicit price quotes.
You should receive written estimates from at least three contractors. Tell prospects you’re only considering a small number of companies. That tells them you’re serious and encourages them to take you seriously.
Talk to referrals.
Ask for names and telephone numbers of former customers. If possible, find some in or around your neighborhood so you can survey the work and discuss it with the homeowner.
Don’t go by price alone.
Log some face time with potential contractors. Ask questions and get to know each other.
Do your due diligence.
Verify a business’ address and telephone number. Ask to see their federal tax identification number, license, proof of bonding, liability and workers’ compensation insurance, and client and credit references. Credentials should be verified.
Inquire about materials.
Professional roofers should be well versed in the latest products and their benefits.
