“There are different techniques and equipment for different buildings,” says Joseph Velasquez, owner of Crystal Clear Window Cleaning & Pressure Wash Services in San Francisco. “For example, cold water can be used on some houses, but others require warm water and/or steam. If a company’s machine can only do a cold wash, it may not be able to get the job done correctly.”
Mr. Velasquez explains that pressure washing is ideal for buildings with exteriors that have been left untended for years and have collected dirt that has etched and stained their surfaces. “When routinely pressure washed, a building won’t get chalky, nor will it develop mold and mildew that could possibly void the warranty on its paint job.” Steps and sidewalks are other areas around the home that warrant regular cleaning, especially those that tend to develop mold. Mr. Velasquez recommends a regular pressure washing regimen to help prevent slips and falls.
